Lake Morena County Park Near Campo Allows Fishing and Camping, but Swimming Is Prohibited

CAMPO — November 2, 2026. San Diego County Parks lists Lake Morena County Park, 2550 Lake Morena Drive, as a fishing and camping destination with day-use parking and outdoor trails.

What is permitted

The park has hiking and biking trails, cabins, campsites, a playground and a fishing lake. The county lists day-use access from sunrise until thirty minutes before sunset, with a $5 day-use parking charge.

Lake water safety rules

Swimming and other direct body contact with reservoir water are prohibited. Boat rentals may be canceled during high winds, heat alerts, lightning, rain or snow, and individual fishing rules still apply.

How to plan ahead

The park is at 3,000 feet elevation and provides phone 619-579-4101 for park questions. Camping reservations should be made through the county system; a campground existing does not mean a cabin is available on a chosen date.
